Oncology Appointment Today

David saw the doctor today, and she said everything looks great right now. Praise God. They drew blood, and we will wait for that, but all the lymph nodes felt normal. She will see him again in January. She called all his new body hair, "The werewolf effect" It is coming back in bunches!!! Keep praying the cancer will stay away. Thanks

Chandler's Thoughts on Proposition 8

As we were driving home from swim practice, there were a bunch of people holding signs on the street corner for and against prop 8. Chandler asked me from the back seat, "Mom, if prop 8 passes, does that mean you and daddy can't be married anymore? So, of course I answered Daddy and I love each other and we will still be able to be married. The people who are against it, want a man to be able to be married to a man and a woman to be able to be married to a woman also. I told him that the God's plan is for a man to be married to a woman and that is why we are voting for it. I left it at that and tried to keep it pretty simple. Chandler was quiet for a while and thinking in the back seat. Then he said, "Mom if a woman got married to a woman, they would have a ton of babies!" "Why do you say that Chandler?"Thinking in my mind, do I really want to go down this road?... He answers,"Well, the mommies are the ones who make the babies and if there are two of them then they would have a whole house full of them!" So, we drove home the rest of the way having a very simple talk God's plans for a daddy and a mommy who are married to make a baby. It's so interesting when and where these precious opportunities come up. It's definitely not when I plan for them!

Daddy Daughter Date

Avrielle and David went on a date this past weekend. They painted a mug at Paint a Dream, ate dinner at Soup Plantation and then walked around the mall. He even helped her buy clothes for a webkinz. I took a picture because I thought it was so cute that she wanted to dress up for the special occasion.

Tofu Teasing

We had stir fry tofu with veggies tonight for dinner, and Avrielle really liked it. She said of course, it tastes"just like chicken" Next, she asked David and me, "I know what a chicken is, but what's a tofu?'' Well, we jumped all over that comment. What?...You've never heard what a tofu is? You're in sixth grade and you don't know where tofu comes from? We then proceeded taking turns telling her that tofu comes from a country in Europe called"Fu", and it is called tofu because they only have one toe on each foot. On and on we went, each statement getting more and more ridiculous then the one before. We had her going for a while. I love having gullible kids. It is so much fun. Sometime, I'll have to tell you the story about the dirty underwear factory we drove past in Ventura...

Presidential Debate

We were watching the debate at dinner with our kids earlier this week. Chandler was asking all kinds of questions wanting Dave and I to explain what everything meant, while Avrielle was listening intently the whole time. I said. "Avrielle, You have been really quiet since the debate has been on, do you have any questions about what is going on or what they are talking about?" She look over to us very seriously, and said,"Mom, I think I understand what they are saying, but I only have one question. How can they stand there and talk so long without having to pee?"

Thankful

I am just amazed at how God works in the little details of life. Earlier this week we got a call from church asking us if we need any help with anything around the house or babysitting etc. They have organized a group of college students to help out people at church for a week. My first response was sure I love help, but then David and I felt really weird about it since he is feeling so much better, and doesn't really need help doing stuff around the house. He is able to do it, it is just hard to find time just like everyone else. Anyway, I think God really knew our needs this week, and I feel so blessed. David has been fighting a small cold, along with Avrielle and Chandler since last weekend. On top of that he had a case to turn in that he has been working on for the past 4-5 months. It was crunch time and has only been getting about 4 hours of sleep for a week now. That is a big strain on anybody. He turned in the case yesterday, but now our lawn and other stuff around the house needs attention because it is hard to keep up with. The college students are going to come today and help him mow the lawn and do some projects in the backyard, which he wanted to do for some time. I am so happy for him that he has help when he is so tired. On top of that, our good friends from school needed help painting their house tommorrow, and he really wanted to help them this weekend because they have shown so much love to us in the past. Now, because of the college students helping him, he is free to help our friends from school. Isn't God awesome the way he worked that out???
